When they say all health issues start from your gut, it’s difficult to believe, but what we know for sure is the fact that when your stomach is unhealthy, nothing seems fine. If you have ever heard your mom or grandma talk about taaseer, you’ll know there are certain foods that are hot and some that are cool irrespective of their temperature, and this notion hails back from Ayurveda so you have all the reasons to believe it. Here we have 8 food items with cool taaseer that can keep a check on stomach heat.
1. Yogurt
The most common reason for stomach heat is consuming very hot, fried and spicy foods. The only dairy product that can help in this situation is a bowl full of creamy yogurt that you’d love anyway. Not only will the cool taaseer of yogurt help, but it also is an active culture with good bacteria and probiotic that help in digestion. You can also have a glass of buttermilk to cool down your stomach.
2. Boiled rice
Boiled rice tends to provide relief in stomach heat and increase the water content in your stomach along with easy to digest natural fibers. You can either have a bowl of plain steamed or boiled rice or have curd rice with or without the tempering.
3. Cool herbs
Chamomile and peppermint are cooling herbs that provide quick relief in stomach heat. You can have chamomile tea, peppermint tea or simply chew a couple of mint leaves if you have them fresh. Cumin seeds and fennel seeds also have cooling properties that help in soothing your belly.
4. Salads and Fruits
Not all fruits help in stomach heat. Skip citrus fruits and tomatoes mostly, add to your diet some apples, pears, watermelons and peaches. These fruits have a high water content that helps in cooling the stomach. Also have cucumbers, lettuce, papaya – that contains enzyme papain – and banana – that provide pectin – to improve digestion naturally and soothe the stomach.
5. Water your body
Drink lots and lots of water for immediate relief to stomach heat. Not only will water help in regulating your stomach’s temperature but also flush out the toxins. You can also make tonic water by soaking cucumbers, apples and lemons in a water pitcher for a few hours and consume the water that is rich in water-soluble nutrients.
6. Coconut water
Coconut water neutralizes the pH level in your stomach and reduces the acidity that causes stomach heat. There is never enough coconut water in a situation like this. Also, as coconut water is rich in nutrients and excellent for hydration, even if you plan to skip a meal, this should keep you up and going.
7. Ginger
Ginger is a superfood with countless benefits. Simply chew on a small slice of ginger to soothe your acidity or make ginger and lemon tea and have it after meals. This will take care of your metabolism and ensure the food is digested well.
8. Gur or Jaggery
A tiny piece of gur or jaggery after your meals is the best dessert you should have. Basically, just end your meal with a small piece of desi Gur and it will sort all your digestion issues for good. Gur boosts your metabolism rate and helps in not only fast but also complete digestion ensuring a healthy gut.
