Whether it’s a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes or an LV bag or even a pair of Levi’s jeans, we plot, plan and save every penny to purchase one for ourselves. We do our research, check in with friends and families, and compare prices and quality before making that final decision to buy.
However, there are things about these brands that we aren’t really aware of. We brush them off as unnecessary information when the fact is that knowing some trivia about your favourite brand is actually good! So, here’s some for you.
1. Levi’s
Being an aristocrat, Levi Strauss never wore his own brand’s denim pants because they were meant for the labour class.
2. Pepe Jeans
Nitin, Arun and Milan Shah – three brothers of Indian origin started Pepe Jeans in London in 1973. It became one of Europe’s best clothing brands by the 80s.
3. FabIndia
Was established by John Bissell in 1960. At the time, Bissell was working for the Ford Foundation. And here I was – thinking that this brand is here thanks to some Indian entrepreneur.
4. Tommy Hilfiger
The man’s never been to design school. Huh.
5. Aéropostale
They filed for bankruptcy in May 2016!
6. Royal Enfield

9. Van Heusen
The only thing Dutch about this brand is its name! It is an American brand that operates under license to Madura Fashion & Lifestyle in India and other South East Asian countries.
10. Peter England
The name is so English that you end up assuming that it’s got to be from England, but there is a surprise! It is actually a part of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd. Where’s that stiff upper lip now?
