Put your Best Face Forward

A primer, a foundation and a concealer together make for the holy trinity of face makeup.

Done well, they can work wonders and give your face the that dewy finish and a perfect base that you always longed for. We tell you how to achieve the look!

          Primer

Wash your face, pat it clean and moisturise . Then use a good primer. Pick from any brand of your choice. To add to that dewy glow, add a foundation primer as they are used to set makeup (foundation) so that it lasts longer. You can easily find one in drug stores or specialised beauty stores.

    Foundation

If you already have flawless skin with no spots, blemishes, freckles, discoloration or uneven tone) you should use a tinted moisturiser. This will add a bit of colour without looking cakey. Gone are he days when pan-cake make-up were the ‘it’ thing. If you want to cover a bit more, use a good foundation. This is one product that you should definitely splurge on. To achieve that radiant skin, use an illuminator. Mix your foundation with a pea-sized amount of illuminator and you’ll get glowing skin within seconds. To even it out, apply the foundation either with a foundation brush or you can also use your fingers tips.

      Concealer

Hunt for a concealer that’s closest to your skin tone. Also make sure you don’t choose one that is too dark or too light. Seek advice if necessary to ensure you get the right color.

Apply the concealer on any imperfections (read: zits or redness) on your skin. Use a small brush to stipple it on and dab it with your fingers to blend it in. Conceal any dark circles under your eye by applying the concealer in a triangular shape. Blend it well to achieve an even tone.

Don’t forget to conceal the inner corners of your eyes as they are mostly darker than the rest of your eyes. Choose a loose powder and dab it on the concealed parts of your face with a stippling brush to set the base.
