Till a year back, Apple seemed to be the company which could do no wrong. A mass brand with a cult following – we wouldn’t have been too wrong if we had called Apple the world’s largest cult. But in the past few months, things have fallen apart for Apple, and how!
Suddenly, everything has begun going wrong. They somehow managed to sabotage their own launch with a tweet: The official Apple twitter handle ‘leaked’ the launch even before CEO Tim Cook had announced it on the stage.
And now, less than 24 hours later, there is already an online backlash over its ‘water resistant’ claims and over safety issues with the new air pods.
Anyways, the iPhone 7 and 7 plus have been unveiled, and here is everything that you need to know about the twin devices. This short 140 seconds video gives you all the necessary dope in 140 seconds flat. And for details, the text follows.
7th October
The iPhone 7 is a case of ‘new wine in an old bottle’.
Even though it is an upgrade on the previous iPhone 6 and 6 plus, the exterior is pretty much the same, barring of course, the new colors. If you keep all the variants together it is quite difficult to differentiate among them. Two new colours – jet black and black have been introduced while the remaining colours are the same from the past variants.
While the buzz has been there for a while, there were too many non-believers. But Apple has done it – done away with the headphone socket, that is. The Headphone jack socket is gone and Apple has replaced it with Lightning-powered Ear Pods which will be available separately as an accessory.
iPhone 7 is water resistant, not water proof
To address the woes of customers who lost their iPhones to water accidents Apple has now introduced the latest version which is waterproof. What’s more, its unique packing is such that the possibility of even dust particles entering is minimal.
However, water resistant doesn’t mean you can click pictures under water or take it along for a dip! At max, it can work fine for 30 minutes upto an underwater depth of no more than 1 metre.
The iPhone 7 comes with a 12 mega pixel camera, a definite upgrade from the iPhone 6 which was equipped with only a 8 mega pixel camera.
The Plus variant features a dual lens set up – the first lens has a wider aperture and has been paired with a Tru-Tone Flash.
The 12-megapixel sensor camera is 60 % faster and 30 % more energy efficient. Not only that, you can save raw files as well as JPEGs and shoot across a wide colour gamut. The front-facing camera has also been given an upgrade and is now a 7 megapixel face time HD sensor one.
Apple has done away with 16 GB model and the new variant has 32 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB internal storage. The 256 GB model has been created especially for people who need a powerhouse phone with ample storage.
For this variant, Apple has introduced the A10 smartphone processor which is their most powerful processor so far. This quad-core genius offers performance cores which are 40 % faster than the processor found in Apple iPhone 6 AND iPhone 6 plus. They are also quite energy efficient so you save up a lot on the battery even after massive usage.
Apple has never boasted about its batteries, however, this time, things have changed. Apple has claimed of a battery having the best life ever. However how exactly is it different that only time and user reviews will be able to tell.
