Did you know that the way you part and style your hair can have a favourable or adverse effect on you hair? While hair fall and hair thinning are fairly common problems, but what if I were to tell you that you could be yourself partly to blame for these twin hair problems.
Your hair cycle depends on a number of factors, including genetics. A lot of these causes, including genetics, are beyond your control. But there are a few things that are well within your control. We will dissect just one of these today – the way you part you hair.
Whichever way you part your hair, it will have some good effects and some bad ones on your hair. We will not get into that today. What we will attack today is just one kind of parting: the constant one. If you are one of them who invariably part their hair the same way, day in, day out, then that habit of yours is hurting your hair in n number of ways.
Any which way you part your hair, it has a stronger impact on a certain section of your hair. One portion of your hair bears the weight and brunt of that parting more than other parts. Now when you don’t change your hair style often, this part of your hair will get weighed down over time. The hair there will become weak and brittle. Leading to hair breakage, hair fall and thinning.
If you too have been making the mistake, check out you hair in a mirror. You will see hair thinning around your parting.
This leads to other problems as well. When you blow dry you hair or use any other device that emits heat, the hair around your parting is more exposed to this heat. This compounds the problem and causes more breakage and thinning.
Regularly parting the hair at the same place causes yet another problem. That part of your scalp is now more exposed to the sun compared to the rest of your head. Over time, this will cause that section to tan more than the rest of your scalp.
Try to change your hair parting every 3-4 days. Play around with middle, side and zig-zag styles. If you are a working woman and would prefer to keep you hair parting only in a certain way at work, you can opt to change it over the weekends and holidays. The objective is to spread the stress caused by parting over different parts of your haid. This will ensure that a certain section of your hair doesn’t get overstressed, which is a leading cause of hair thining.
