10 Upcoming Smartphones Expected to be Launched in India by December 2016

This story was done a couple of months back – a couple of smartphones mentioned here have therefore obviously already been launched!

Samsung Galaxy Note 6:

If the rumours are to be believed, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 could pack a colossal 6GB of RAM, making it the first smartphone ever from Samsung to sport 6GB of RAM. Rumours also suggest that the Note 6 will sport a 5.8-inch Quad-HD display at the front.

A Snapdragon 823 chipset is expected to power the device. However, given the company’s history, the Indian variant is expected to come with the Samsung’s own Exynos chipset. A 4,200mAh battery is expected to provide the juice for the device. A USB Type-C port is also on the cards. You can expect it to be launched sometime in August.

iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7:

The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to integrate a dual-camera setup into the iPhone 7 Plus thereby giving it a major camera upgrade. A 256GB variant iPhone is also on the cards to offer more storage space for the shutterbugs. The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will be powered by the Apple’s new A10 chipset and will supposedly come with 3GB of RAM.

The iPhone 7 is slightly less premium than the iPhone 7 Plus. However, most of the features will be same as the ones on the iPhone 7 Plus except the fact that it won’t feature the dual-camera setup at the back. Expect both the phones to be launched in September.

OnePlus 3:

The OnePlus 3 is all set to launch on June 15. Like most of the flagships, the OnePlus 3 could come in an all-metal body. It may feature a 5.5-inch Full-HD AMOLED display. A Snapdragon 820 chipset is expected to power the device. It packs 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. On the software front, it will boot Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a layer of Oxygen OS atop.

There’s also another variant of the phone with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. A 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel camera at the front will take care of imaging department. A 3,000mAh battery is expected to provide much juice.

 Sony Xperia X Performance:

The Sony Xperia X Performance was first showcased at Mobile World Congress this year. It rocks a 5-inch Full-HD LCD display with a pixel density of 443PPI. A Snapdragon 820 chipset powers the device. It comes with 32GB of expandable storage clubbed with 3GB of RAM. There’s a 23-megapixel camera along with an LED flash at the back to take care of imaging. Also, there’s a 13-megapixel camera at the front for the selfie enthusiasts. It boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. There’s no word on when it will reach India yet.

Zuk Z2:

The Zuk Z2 has a 5-inch Full-HD 2.5D curved glass display at the front. Under the hood, is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.15GHz. This processor is clubbed with 4GB of RAM which should be good enough to handle most of the daily tasks. It also comes with 64GB of internal storage space. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel snapper for selfies. It boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZUI 2.0 atop and is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with support for fast charging technologies. It comes in Black and White colours and has already been released in China. So it should be launched in India anytime soon.

Xiaomi Mi Max:

The Xiaomi Mi Max has a massive 6.4-inch display and is fairly thin at a thickness of 7.5mm.  It sports a Full-HD screen and runs MIUI 8 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In terms of specifications, the Mi Max is powered by a Snapdragon 652 chipset and comes along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. At the back is a 16-megapixel PDAF camera for the photography enthusiasts. The 5-megapixel front camera takes care of selfies and video calls. There’s also a fingerprint scanner at the back to quickly unlock the phone from the lock screen. It is backed by a 4,850mAh battery. The Mi Max will also available in two other variants with slightly downgraded specifications. It is already launched in China and should make its way to India soon.

Google Ara:

The basic idea behind Google’s Project Ara is to help people build a phone on their own, similar to PCs. Once you own a basic version of the phone you can simply upgrade the phone by swapping the modules you like. For example, if an updated camera module is available in the market you can simply swap it without having to update the entire phone. And if this is not enough Google, by itself, is building the hardware for the first time ever for this phone. The developer edition is expected to be released later this year. A consumer variant should be available anytime in 2017.

Nexus M1 and S1 codename:

Reportedly, HTC is working on the next Nexus flagships and are being internally referred as M1 and S1. While the M1 refers to the successor of the Nexus 6P, S1 is supposedly the improved version of Nexus 5X. Both the phones are expected to run Android N out-of-the-box. According to a GeekBench listing, the M1 will come with Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 1.59GHz. Both the Nexus 6P and 5X were launched in late September so, we can expect their successors to be launched in the same month.

Samsung Galaxy C7 and C5:

Samsung Galaxy C7 rocks a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC and comes along with 4GB of RAM. It will be available in two storage variants: 32GB and 64GB. The hybrid SIM slot allows you to expand the storage up to 128GB via a microSD card. It boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. A 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel camera at the front cater the needs of photography enthusiasts. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the back to quickly unlock your smartphone. A 3,300mAh battery provides the fuel. The Galaxy C5 almost has same specifications except the Snapdragon 617 SoC and a smaller 2,600mAh battery.

Honor 5C:

The Honor 5C sports a 5.2-inch Full-HD IPS LCD display. This dual SIM smartphone supports 4G LTE and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 650 chipset. The 2GB of RAM is clubbed with 16GB of onboard storage(expandable up to 128GB). It features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Booting Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the 5C is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the back.
